Apology – Christopher Chandler and Mark Stoleson

An apology.

On 22nd June 2020, The London Economic published an article which inaccurately reported that Mr Christopher Chandler and Mr Mark Stoleson applied for Maltese citizenship as a result of UK electorate’s decision to leave the EU in June 2016.  In fact, Mr Chandler and Mr Stoleson filed their applications for Maltese citizenship in August and July 2015, after months of preparatory work, at a time which pre-dated the passing of the UK’s European Union Referendum Act 2015, and long before the referendum result.

Therefore, the facts show that any suggestion that Mr Chandler and Mr Stoleson obtained Maltese citizenship as a result of Brexit is clearly false, and we are happy to set the record straight. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to Mr Chandler and Mr Stoleson for our error, and to our readership for the confusion it has caused.

Since you are here

Since you are here, we wanted to ask for your help.

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.

Our mission is to hold the powerful to account. It is vital that free media is allowed to exist to expose hypocrisy, corruption, wrongdoing and abuse of power. But we can't do it without you.
