A sex attacker who brutally raped a young American tourist yards from Trafalgar Square in central London is being hunted.
Police say the 22-year-old woman was holidaying in the capital when she was kicked out of a taxi with a friend in the early hours of Sunday June 3rd.
They said she has “no recollection” of what happened after her friend was sick in the car.
Police were called when she went to A&E after waking up with injuries consistent with being raped.
CCTV images show the two women with two unknown men in Haymarket, near Trafalgar Square, at around 3am.
One man is seen carrying the woman to a doorway, where it is believed she was raped.
Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command have released a still of a man they are looking for in connection with the incident.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Officers spoke with the woman – an American national who was visiting London on holiday – at the hospital.
“She recalled being told to get out of a taxi in the early hours of the morning after her friend had been sick, but had no recollection of subsequent events prior to waking up and seeking treatment for her injuries.
“Analysis of CCTV showed the woman in the company of her friend and two unknown men in Haymarket, at around 3am on Sunday June 3rd.
“One of the men is seen to carry the woman to a nearby doorway, where the available evidence suggests she was raped.”
