More than 40 people were hurt – at least three seriously – when a coach overturned on the M25 in Kent, causing rush hour chaos.
A fleet of ambulances took 41 casualties – including seven children – to hospital after the vehicle came off the motorway at Swanley, Kent, at 4pm today (MON).
The Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington declared a “major incident” alert.
The crash happened on on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the mortoway near Junction Three.
Queues of traffic stretched back for miles after police closed part of the busy motorway.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said crews helped free several passengers who were trapped on board the vehicle belonging to A Green Coaches Ltd, based in Walthamstow, east London.
A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Following reports of a coach involved in an road traffic collision on the M25 at J3, we have 41 patients.
“Currently, 31 adults and seven children with minor injuries, three other patients with more serious injuries taken to hospital.”
