This could be the end for Jeremy Hunt as he admitted that up to 270 women could have passed away as they were not invited to a final routine breast screening.

If they had attended these appointments they might have survived. This shocking admission will add even more pressure onto Jeremy Hunt who is currently under investigation over purchase of luxury apartments on south coast.

He told the Commons 450,000 women aged around 70 had failed to get invitations since 2009. Of that figure 150,000 have since lost their lives.
He has announced an independent review and apologised to the women and their families.

Hunt said: “For them and others it is incredibly upsetting to know that you did not receive an invitation for screening at the correct time and totally devastating to hear you may have lost or be about to lose a loved one because of administrative incompetence.”

Mr Hunt said a computer algorithm failure was to blame.
