Mamas Gun have today share the new video for recent single ‘London Girls’ – the video, which features a female parkour artist crossing iconic London spots such as Southbank, The Square Mile and Trafalgar Square, arrives following details of the quintet’s new album, Golden Days, which is set for release via Candelion on May 18, 2018.

‘London Girls’ holds a salient place for frontman and founder of the band, Andy Platts. “I wanted to write a London song” says the singer, “for most of my career, I’ve been making American-influenced music so it’s nice to do stuff that kind of points to where you’re from – having something with ‘London’ in the title without it being too tongue-in-cheek.”

Whilst ‘London Girls’ works on a patriotic level, it also references the strong females that surround Platts, from his wife, Jodie Seymour who co-wrote the track, to his own Filipino mother who is depicted on the single’s artwork. Platts, who was born in Kowloon, Hong Kong was introduced to music at a young age through his mother’s Spanish guitar playing.

As well as previous support slots with the likes of Beverley Knight and Raphael Saadiq, Mamas Gun have performed at global music festivals including WOMAD, Greenroom,Java Jazz, and Pentaport. The soul quintet will make their live return at The Social, London on February 8, 2018 before embarking upon a headline UK tour later in the year.

Golden Days adds to a bustling back catalogue which has previously earned the band support from The Guardian, the Sunday Times, Uncut and Billboard. Albums including Routes to Riches, The Life & Soul and Cheap Hotel have – alongside the likes of Charles Bradley, Curtis Harding and the Dap Kings – helped fuel the vanguard of 21st century soul – as well as spawning Top 10 hits on four continents.

Mamas Gun will perform an intimate album pre-release show on February 8, 2018. Pick up your tickets here.
