Motorists were left in a flap after a SWAN crashed through a car windscreen.

The young bird stopped traffic as it strolled along the A404 in Marlow, Bucks., with its mate on Thursday afternoon.

But it suddenly decided to take flight, before ploughing through the windscreen of a passing BMW 4×4.

A dramatic image taken by a passer-by shows the smashed glass with the bird’s wing sticking out of the driver’s side.

A woman could be seen quickly emerging from the black car as the bird

Kayla Pope, who was travelling on the opposite side of the road at the time, said: “OH WOW!! this happened on the A404 – I hope the swan is ok.

“Poor lady, that must have been so scary for her.”

John Bradley added: “Did my good deed for the year today. Stopped traffic on the A404 at Marlow to guide two swans on the carriageway to safety.

“Just a shame for the one 200 yards down the road that had gone through someone’s windscreen….awful sight.”

It is not yet clear whether the swan survived the impact following the incident at around 3.30pm.
