A fish and chip van was completely gutted after it burst into flames.

The Frying Squad mobile van went up in flames on a quiet residential street, leaving one man with minor burns.

London Fire Brigade were called to the posh street in Wimbledon, south west London, just after 4pm on Friday, but the fire was under control within the hour.

London Ambulance Service said an ambulance and a Hazardous Area Response Team were sent to the address.

A man was treated for minor burns at the scene.

Mobile fish and chip van company The Frying Squad, based in Hither Green, south east London, confirmed it was one of their vans.

A spokesperson said: “We have been in business for ten years and nothing like this has ever happened before.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
