Sam Coates has dubbed Rishi Sunak’s AI summit one of the “maddest events” he has ever covered during a revealing wrap on Sky News.

The channel’s deputy political editor reported back from the event held at Bletchley Park, the home of Allied codebreaking during the Second World War, after a two-day gathering of politicians and experts from around the world.

It concluded with a 50-minute interview conducted by the prime minister as X owner Elon Musk took to the stage to field some “softball” questions.

The event has been described as “the most extravagant job interview in history” by insiders, with speculation mounting that Sunak is eyeing up a post-prime ministerial life in Santa Monica discussing technology and the future of mankind rather than following his predecessors down the GB News route.
