Mother’s Day is around the corner and while gifts and cards make the cut nothing beats cracking open a good bottle of wine to celebrate.

This year we have wines from across the world to help you make the right pick for the occasion.

From old world to new, red wine to rose, here are some wines to say thank you for being awesome.

Red: De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate Grown Pinot Noir 2016, Australia

Alluring red fruit aromatics, charcuterie and spice. Elegant, plump, minerally, fine tannin, soft acidity. It matches well with white meat such as roast pork, chicken or duck, and hard cheeses such as parmesan, romano or vintage gouda.

Buy from: Richard Granger Wines £20.34

White: Bird’s Eye View Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon, Australia

This wine displays lifted aromas of citrus and tropical fruit and dry Semillon grassy notes. Delightful when paired with freshly shucked oysters, pan-fried scallops, battered white fish, salad with creamy white cheese or Asian stir-fry dishes.

Buy from: Iceland £4.90

White: The Ned Pinot Grigio 2018, New Zealand

The signature salmon pink colour of the wine is made from the extended contact of the pink-skinned grapes. A nose of pear drops, white blossom and nectarine leading to a rich and soft palate, slightly tropical, with a smooth finish. This will taste great alongside fresh salads and creamy pastas.

Buy from: Majestic £10.99 (8.99 mix six)

Rose: Chemin des Pèlerins Rose 2017, France

Lively and supple with seductive aromas of fresh red fruits and notes of raspberry. This wine is great as an aperitif and goes well with starters, fish and seafood and cheese such as Comté or Pyrenean cheese.

Buy from: Frazier’s £8.40 / Gusto Wines £8.99

Prosecco: Canevel Vigneto del Faè, Spumante Dosaggio Zero

Kick the night off with bubbles with this classy bottle of Prosecco Superiore from Valdobbiadene, Italy. With aromas of apple blossom and almonds on the nose, this sparkling wine starts with a fresh and pleasing acidity on the palate and offers a long-lasting dry finish. Excellent as an aperitif, it also goes really well with flavoursome fish dishes such as cod or sardines in sour sauces.

Buy from: Oakham Wines, £21.49
