An air ambulance was scrambled after two men were knifed on a street in broad daylight showing London’s knife crime epidemic is not slowing down.

The men in their 30s were attacked in a residential street just after 6pm, yesterday, in Greenwich, south-east London.

They were taken to hospital where one remains in a critical condition and the other stable.

Jan Walford said: “London Air Ambulance just landed right behind our house in Greenwich, I hope the patient will be ok.

“It landed in Christchurch school, turns out it was for a double stabbing – the pilot was amazing.”

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “Police were called to Hevelius Close at around 6.10 pm on Monday, September 17 following reports of a stabbing.

“Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended – two men were subsequently found suffering from stab wounds.

“The men, both believed to be aged in their 30s, were taken to an east London hospital.

“‘Victim 1’ remains in a critical condition, while ‘Victim 2’ is in a stable condition; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
