‘Bonfire’ of 4,000 EU-era laws to fall short by 3,200
Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch said the Government will only be able to remove 800 of the retained laws before the end of 2023.
The UK is the first and so far only country to have left the EU and Brexit was and is the withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC or Euratom). The official withdrawal was at 23:00 31 January 2020 GMT (00:00 CET).
Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch said the Government will only be able to remove 800 of the retained laws before the end of 2023.
The DUP said it is seeking “further movement” from the Government on post-Brexit trade, after presenting a set of proposed actions.
SNP MP Martin Day argued that an inquiry had been set up into the handling of the pandemic - and that Brexit's impact would likely be even bigger.
"By shunning closer border ties, we opted to line up in the slow queue when heading for Europe."
