The Times gave all 14 contributing England players zero out of ten following their defeat to Iceland last night in the last 16 of Euro 2016.

Joe Hart was judged to have been beaten too easily for the second goal that sent Iceland through to the quarter finals, while his defensive counterparts Kyle Walker, Gary Cahill, Chris Smalling and Danny Rose were adjudged to have been found wanting against a mediocre attack.

In midfield, Dele Alli was criticised for finishing poorly and captain Wayne Rooney was rightly called out for giving the ball away too frequently.

England’s full compliment of attacking players were also given straight zeros, with Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy both in the firing line for a poor performance.

Is this harsh?
