Ccountdown to the historic Yankees vs Red Sox series has begun with the two baseball giants set to meet on June 29-30, 2019 at London Stadium.

The game will mark Major League Baseball’s first ever played in Europe and will be showcased in front of an estimated capacity of 55,000 in the East End.

It means the UK now follows other international venues that have hosted regular season Major League games, including Mexico, Japan, Puerto Rico and Australia.

Commissioner Manfred said: “Major League Baseball is excited to be bringing one of the most storied rivalries in sports to the passionate fans of London. In our ongoing efforts to grow baseball, there is nothing as impactful as bringing live games and our talented players to fans.

“This is our most significant endeavor ever in Europe and we look forward to showcasing Major League Baseball in one of the world’s great cities.”

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming two heavyweights of international sport – the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox – to London next summer. I’m excited about the partnership between London and MLB and the long-term future of baseball in our great city.”

In addition to the games, over the next 12 months there will be a number of events to build momentum, utilising the most celebrated elements of MLB Culture including fashion, music and technology.
