Boris Johnson has announced a string of new nationwide coronavirus restrictions. People were quick to point out his mixed messaging after weeks of encouraging people back into work.
Johnson replied that he expects everyone to obey the law - even though he is planning to break it himself. It was beyond parody.
Experts warned the pound could be sent into freefall once again if the Prime Minister’s stand-off with the EU continues.

Speaking out after reports that ministers are looking to torpedo trade talks with Brussels by reneging on the Withdrawal Agreement, Lammy - an avowedly pro-EU politician - said that those supporting the move were not "patriots".
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the move would constitute a repudiation by the Government of a treaty “freely negotiated by it” and which was described as “oven ready” by Mr Johnson.
A bombshell report in the Financial Times said the Prime Minister is planning new legislation that would override key parts of the Withdrawal Agreement – the treaty that sealed Britain’s exit from the EU in January.
“There is now yet another person who has applied to the adverts for ‘weirdos and misfits’ who has now had to resign because of their extreme views."
