Confidence is a preference for the habitual voyeur of what is known as, Parklife. And mockery can be avoided if you take a route straight through what is known as…. Politics.

Unfortunately, Russell Brand and his articulate, poignant, silver tongued, sententious political campaign has delved into the murky world of politics to inspire a revolution. But not only has his spiritually-guided work failed to inspire the public, it has utterly befuddled them.

It’s akin to that episode of Friends (that’s the only time we’ll reference Friends on TLE) when Joey sticks every word of his letter of recommendation through a thesaurus. “It doesn’t make any sense”, Monica questions, “Of course it does,” Joey replies, “it’s smart”.

And therein we have Brand’s problem. He may sound smart and he certainly speaks with a certain je n’ais sais quois, but his call to action through political inaction is actually a misguided, feeble attempt at politics. The best thing to come from this tirade is this collection of Vines, which are utterly wonderful.

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.

Our mission is to hold the powerful to account. It is vital that free media is allowed to exist to expose hypocrisy, corruption, wrongdoing and abuse of power. But we can't do it without you.
