Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour party has taken a three-point lead over the Tories according to a poll for the Observer .

The Conservative Party have dropped down to 36% a drop of five points. Labour has increased three to hit 39 per cent. UKIP has gone to 8 per cent, a two point rise and the Liberal Democrats are on 7, a fall of one point.

It appears the issues over the EU Brexit deal have damaged the faith in the Conservative Party.

Opinium, who carried out the poll, found that the Tories decline was caused by Leave supporters withdrawing their support to the party.

The proportion of Leavers backing the Tories has dropped by 10 points to 49%. Labour’s support among Leavers has risen by four points to 26%, while Ukip has increased by six points among Leavers to 16%.

The pressure on the PM is likely to increase next week, which could see a leadership challenge emerge, with Boris Johnson and Dominic Raab possible contenders.

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.

Our mission is to hold the powerful to account. It is vital that free media is allowed to exist to expose hypocrisy, corruption, wrongdoing and abuse of power. But we can't do it without you.
