There’s no denying it now – we’re seeing a very clear trend of a rise in Labour support ahead of Andy Burnham’s seemingly inevitable coronation as prime minister.
It seems Burnham will be unchallenged in a leadership contest, and the Makerfield MP has started laying out his vision for the UK.
And whilst there has been much debate over whether Burnham has a mandate to govern, given that he wasn’t even an MP during the 2024 general election, his supporters will be feeling increasingly vindicated following recent polling.

Over the last week, a number of polls have shown a jump in support for Labour, which can almost certainly be put down to Keir Starmer’s resignation and Burnham’s popularity.
The latest poll to show this has come from More In Common, who reported the highest level of support for Labour in almost a year.
Labour were up an impressive four points on their support a week ago. With no change in support for Reform, that means Nigel Farage’s party have seen their polling lead cut to four points.
More in Common also found that Brits overwhelmingly think Starmer was right to resign as prime minister. This included a majority of Labour voters as well.
Perhaps the most surprising thing about this latest polling is that it didn’t report a drop in support for Reform.
As their leader Farage continues to be dogged by controversy over the secret £5m he received from Christopher Harborne, plenty of polls have shown Reform’s support dip as the same time as Labour’s surge.
It might not be too long before Reform are knocked off their polling perch…
