Robert Jenrick delivered a typically disastrous interview performance when he refused to say whether or not he believed a charity focused on kicking racism out of football was a “politically charged organisation with an agenda.”
On Tuesday, the Tory-turned-Reform MP appeared on LBC for an interview when he was asked live on air by Nick Ferrari about a recent decision made by a Reform-led council.
Ferrari asked Jenrick why Sunderland council, where Reform hold a huge majority, had decided to withdraw funding for ‘Show Racism the Red Card’.
After a 30 year partnership with the charity, which is focused on tackling racism in football, Sunderland Council have cut ties because they claim it is a “politically charged organisation with an agenda.”

This prompted Ferrari to ask Jenrick why on earth a council would not want to back such a cause.
After saying he was not aware of the story or Sunderland council’s thinking behind the move, Ferrari asked Jenrick simply whether he thought that eliminating racism from football was a politically charged agenda.
Whilst it would seem like a pretty simple answer for most people, the Newark MP had a hard time with it.

Reacting on social media, people were critical of both the move from Sunderland council and Jenrick’s unwillingness to state that trying to eradicate racism in football wasn’t politically charged.
