Donald Trump’s brags about himself and the US were met with total silence from delegates as he delivered a speech to the UN General Assembly.
On Tuesday, Trump addressed world leaders in New York as this year’s general assembly got underway.
In typical fashion, the president kicked off his speech with a series of baseless brags, claiming that America is “stronger today than ever before.”

Trump continued: “Our economy is the envy of the world, our military is the most powerful on earth, our technology is second to none and we are leading in virtually everything.”
The Republican went on to make claims about US energy “fuelling the planet” and American power “expanding.”
He then boasted about the “new private sector jobs” his administration has created and how more Americans are working today than ever before (although not in terms of share of the population, with the unemployment rate at its highest level since 2021).
And throughout the entire opening, there was complete and utter silence from those in attendance.
As Trump left pauses and gaps for applause, not a single clap came with as everyone deciding to let the old man ramble on.
The rest of Trump’s speech was full of nonsense lines he’d said last year at the UN General Assembly.
This included made-up claims that he would soon end the war between Ukraine and Russia (last year Trump said Russia was a ‘paper tiger’ and suggested Ukraine could regain all its lost land – the war is still going on 12 months later and if anything has intensified) and his belief that the UN is “imposing a radical-left wing agenda”.
The daftest part of his speech came when Trump said he was going to rebrand artificial intelligence as ‘super intelligence.’
“The use of the word artificial makes it sound fake,” he said. “It’s not fake, it’s actually amazing. But we have to be careful,” he added. “Welcome to the new world of super intelligence – SI.”
