Hillsborough Ruling Is A Victory For All Working Class People

Prose by John S. Locke Justice was seen to be done today and a victory for working class people everywhere was seen to happen. Today was a victory for working class people against an establishment fully prepared to lie and damage the reputation of normal people to protect itself. A day when working class people beat establishment corruption and truth finally won. A very important day in history for a working class people, truth and justice in our country. Fought in...

Alex Lodge: Weekly Report Vol 41

By Alex Lodge (@alexlodgemusic | Insta @alexlodgemusic7) Alex Lodge is a music supervisor for film, TV and advertising at Thirty Two.  I’ve basically been listening to this Kate Tempest song on loop for the last week. I love what she does, how she articulates her vision and most of all what she represents in the music industry. She’s not trying to be anything she’s not and she’s found a home on Ninja where she’s not going to be manipulated into...

British holidaymakers could be losing thousands due to Spanish compensation rules

Unwary British holidaymakers are falling foul of Spain’s one year time limit for injury claim compensation.  The country’s one year limit sits in stark contrast to other parts of Europe, such as France, where some claims can be filed up to 10 years after an accident. The latest figures provided by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) show that over 60 British tourists are hospitalised abroad each week, with 20% of these occurring in Spain.  These figures also show that...

REVIEW: AURORA – All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend

By Esin Huseyin (@Esin_Huseyin) It’s not often that I can thank social media for introducing me to new artists and albums, but I was introduced to Norwegian singer Aurora Aksnes, or AURORA, via a Snapchat story. Many will know AURORA and her music through the eagerly anticipated, and well received, John Lewis Christmas advert last year. But, listening to the 19-year-old’s latest album All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend, was actually the first time I truly had the...

Hillsborough Disaster: Inquest ‘Totally Vindicates’ Families After 27 Year Fight

A two-year inquest into the Hillsborough disaster has 'totally vindicated' families of those killed in the incident, ruling that the 96 people were unlawfully killed. In what has been described by Labour MP Andy Burnham as the "greatest miscarriage of justice of our times", justice for supporters and families who suffered on that fateful day has finally been delivered. The inquest ruled that Hillsborough had no accurate way of assessing fan numbers in the pens and that the stadium had inherent design...

WATCH: Jeremy Hunt gets a serious dressing down

Labour's Heidi Alexander hit out at a smug albeit sheepish looking Jeremy Hunt regarding his "kamikaze approach" to the junior doctors' strike. Alexander accused Hunt of being solely to blame for the loss of morale in the NHS and the potential exodus of staff to the Southern Hemisphere.

Corporations will rule Governments if TTIP goes ahead

"When corporations sit above Government, we are in big, big trouble." You have probably already heard and read about TTIP, but maybe you aren't quite sure how it will effect you? In a nutshell, TTIP stands for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. TTIP is a proposed deal between the EU and the US aimed at making it easier for the world’s two biggest economies to trade, leading to a projected increase in income for both continents. TTIP sets to make trade...

‘No Platform’ Feeds The Right’s Narrative Of Fear

I've been to many university debates and spoken in more than a few. I've heard one man compare gay marriage to Nazism, a 19-year-old claim he was a 'survivor' of abortion and an Israeli student joke about killing more Palestinians. Sometimes outrageous or offensive statements cause shock, more often delayed laughter but they never go unchallenged. The National Union of Students would rather not allow potentially controversial debates to take place. The 'no platform' policy once used to shut down...

Scientists Develop A Formula For Why Socks Go Missing

Scientists have unveiled a formula for why socks go missing. The so-called 'sock loss index' has been created by Psychologist Dr Simon Moore and leading statistician Dr Geoff Ellis and takes a variety of sock-related factors into account to calculate the probability of socks going missing. For the mathematicians out there, it looks something like this:  (L(p x f)+C(t x s))-(P x A) Samsung commissioned the scientists to promote the launch of its new AddWash washing machine which allows you to...
