Recruitment entrepreneur James Reed is calling on business leaders to give generously to the Grenfell Tower appeal after donating £100,000 out of his own pocket.

A Big Give fundraising page has been launched after a fire ravaged an apartment block in North Kensington on Wednesday morning.

So far almost a quarter of a million pounds has been donated on the page, with all donations matched by The Big Give.

He is now appealing to other business leaders across the capital to offer what they can, in order to help families affected.

“The events that unfolded in Latimer Road are deeply saddening,” Reed commented.

“We want to do all we can to help the people affected by this disaster. That’s why we’ve started this appeal and why we’re matching all funds that are donated.

“People have lost their homes, their loved ones, and we can all help in some way. This is just one of them. Please give what you can.”

The Big Give helps provide a cost-effective service for both charities aiming to raise funds, philanthropists wishing to leverage their giving and individuals wishing to donate money online.

Since being founded by Sir Alec Reed in 2007, the Big Give has helped to raise £82 million for UK-registered charities.
