A murder investigation has been launched after man found dead in Essex with stab wound

The victim, who has not been named, was found suffering from a stab wound to the back

Detectives launched a murder investigation today (mon) after a man was found dead in a town centre with a stab wound in his back.

The un-named man was found close to Castle Park in Colchester, Essex, at 8.20am.

A large emergency services response remains at the scene of a murder with forensics teams now on the scene.

Ryegate Road which runs alongside Colchester Castle Park – a park which regularly hosts music concerts and festivals including Tom Jones and Craig David.

An Essex police spokesperson said: “We are investigating the death of a man in Colchester.

“We were called by the ambulance service shortly after 8.20am today, Monday 11 February, with reports a man had been found deceased in Ryegate Road.

“He had suffered a stab wound to his back.

“Enquiries remain at an early stage and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area this morning and saw what happened, or has any information, to call the North Major Crime team on 101 quoting incident 208 of today’s date”.
