It’s that time of year once again when Great Britain and Ireland’s foodie elite will flock to sample what’s on offer at the latest wave of restaurants to have been praised by the newly published Michelin Guide 2016, with the results having been published on Twitter, one day early.

In total, this year’s comprehensive restaurant guide features 15 new One Star restaurants, two to be awarded Two Stars, and no new Three Stars, meanwhile Gordon Ramsay’s Maze and Rasoi – an Indian restaurant in Chelsea – have both lost their stars.

Both restaurants to be newly appointed with Two Stars – Araki and Umu – are both Japanese restaurants in Mayfair, while four London restaurants – Lyle’s, Bonhams, Portland and the Dining Room at The Goring – have each received a One Michelin Star rating. Elsewhere, across the country, Leeds’ The Man Behind The Curtain, John’s House near Loughborough, The Cellar in Anstruther, Ox and Eific in Belfast, The Greenhouse in Dublin, and Loam in Galway have all received the same accolade.

Unsurprisingly, following its temporary move to Australia before reopening in Bray, Heston Blumenthal’s Three-Starred The Fat Duck is absent from this year’s guide, given that it did not reopen in time for Michelin’s assessors to visit this year.

Also published is the Michelin Guide London 2016, providing an extensive look at the London restaurants to have been included, as well as additional photography and information on all Starred establishments, not forgetting a pull-out map.

Both the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2016 and Michelin Guide London 2016 are available now, priced at £16.99 (€17.99) and £12.99 (€13.99) respectively.
