With a continuous rise in restaurants serving exciting meat-free food, heightened awareness of animal welfare and health-conscious dieting, it’s unsurprising that vegetarianism, veganism and flexitarianism (semi-vegetarian) are on the rise.

In fact, since Linda McCartney introduced her range of vegetarian dishes over 25 years ago, the number of vegetarians in Britain has more than doubled – launched as an attempt to save vegetarians from a bleak future of eating unexciting food. Research in 2016 also showed that 12 per cent of the population now consider themselves vegetarian, while 59 per cent of non-vegetarian British people are looking to reduce their meat in take.

Later this month, ‘Linda’s Veggie Table’ will launch a three-day event during National Vegetarian Week  (15th-21st May 2017), taking over a Shoreditch warehouse space. Taking place between 18th-20th May, ‘Linda’s Veggie Table’ will offer a number of vegetarians, vegans and meat-eaters alike to immerse themselves in a vegetarian experience, set to showcase the best in meat-free eating. What’s more, the event will be hosted by “star vegetarian” Jay McGuinness of The Wanted, who will be on hand to impart his vegetarian wisdom.

Guests will be invited to relax in ‘Linda’s Lounge’ with a variety of meat-free canapés and mocktails, before experiencing one of nine cookery demonstrations, across three days, from Linda’s expert vegetarian chef. These demonstrations will teach guests how to make the likes of delicious vegetarian burgers, “one-pot wonders” and fresh summer treats in time for barbecue season. Guests will also be given the chance to taste the produce cooked, before leaving with knowledge to recreate the dishes at home.

‘Linda’s Veggie Table’ is set to take place between 18th-20th May, with hour-long sessions priced at just £10. All proceeds from the event, exclusive of booking fee, will be donated to Hackney Foodbank (registered charity number 1149896). Tickets can be purchased from eventbrite.co.uk, while further information on the event can be found at lindamccartneyfoods.co.uk.
