Ladies of Restaurants to host International Women’s Day Weekender

Tying in with International Women’s Day (8th March), Ladies of Restaurants – a collective of women working in hospitality, launched to support women in the industry – will host a weekend of events in London, Liverpool and Manchester.

Taking place between Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th March, Ladies of Restaurants’ first International Women’s Day Weekender will strive to celebrate and support women in the hospitality industry with four exciting events scheduled to take place. Beginning in Liverpool, a L.O.R.’s of Liverpool Dinner Party will take place on Thursday 7th March at Bold Street Coffee (£30 per-person, including a welcome drink and five-course dinner), featuring a collaborative dinner from female powerhouses of Liverpool’s restaurant scene, including the likes of Livia Alarcon of Baltic Bakehouse, Melissa Tran of Vietnom, Lucy Williams of Oktopus and Bold Street’s own Alison Clare. Behind the bar, guests will include Karis Griffith from the city’s Filter & Fox cafe and wine bar, and Hannah Bothwell of Polidor 68.

To follow, Ladies Who Lunch (£25 per-person, including a welcome drink and sharing feast) will take place at The Creameries in Manchester on Friday 8th March, with a female-led feast championing Fat Duck alumni Mary-Ellen McTague, baker Sophie Yeoman and designer Soo Wilkinson. The event will offer a chance for the women of Manchester’s hospitality scene to come together to learn from and encourage each other over food and drink from the trio.

Also in Manchester, Manchester House’s Lucy Noone will host Baby Talk (£5 per-person with all proceeds going to children’s nutrition charity Magic Breakfast): a discussion on the before, during and after of being a working mum in the hospitality industry. Drawing on her own experience of returning to work when her son was just eight-weeks-old, Lucy will discuss returning to working life with an infant, and how her own background in the restaurant industry has helped her cope with the demands of motherhood.

Finally, a Snackbar Brunch Fundraiser will take place in London on Sunday 10th March at The Ace Hotel, Shoreditch (£30 per-person, including a ‘Sunday morning sharpener’ and brunch). With all proceeds (after food costs) going towards launching a debut bricks and mortar site for roaming pop-up favourite, Snackbar. Guests can expect brunch dishes alongside games and drinks from the bar at The Rooftop of The Ace Hotel.
