Celebrate Diwali at Sopwell House

Excellent food (of course), great drinks and a proper Diwali party at a beautiful country house hotel just minutes from central London. What's not to like....

Diwali is really becoming a major festival in the UK, and one not to miss out on with some great events put on as our earlier article on Diwali dinners in London explained. And it is indeed the wider UK and not just central London that gets to join the fun, so why not celebrate the Festival of Lights in style at Sopwell House as its sell-out Diwali celebration returns for a fourth year on Friday 6th November. Back with a twist, this year’s festivities will see the luxury Hertfordshire country house transform into an immersive food, drink and dancing celebration, complete with street food style dining, live entertainment and fireworks.

For those that do not know it, Sopwell House is a wonderful Grade II listed Georgian country house, Family-owned and managed by the Bejerano family since 1986, set in 12 acres of Hertfordshire countryside near St Albans, and which is now an excellent luxury hotel and spa, the latter comprising a three-storey wellness center featuring an indoor swimming pool, hydrotherapy pools, saunas, steam rooms, and the exclusive Club at Cottonmill. So, quite a place to go and a very short trip indeed from central London (as little as 18 minutes by train – that’s less time than it takes to get to Richmond. Just saying…).

And quite an evening it promises to be. Starting from 7pm, guests will receive a welcome drink before making their way through to the beautifully transformed St Alban Suite and The Mountbatten event space. Inspired by the vibrant atmosphere of India’s bustling food markets, guests will enjoy range of street food stands and carts, serving an array of delicious dishes throughout the night.

Then having feasted rather well, you candance the night away on the hotel’s large dancefloor, with a DJ set and a series of live performances taking place throughout the evening.

After getting your fill of food and dancing, head outside to the hotel’s landscaped gardens for a dazzling firework display, with music and dancing continuing until midnight.

Sopwell House’s Diwali celebration takes place on Friday 6th November from 7pm, with bookings available from £109 per person.

I think this sounds like a top night!
