Sean McGowan is back on the scene with a new album that puts recent political controversies at the crux his unique brand of punk poetry.

“Porky Pies” is the latest track to be cut from the soon-to-be-released album ‘Son Of The Smith’.

The track sees the young artist, who is conventionally known for waxing lyrical about his favourite brand of savoury snack, pull up his boot straps on a quest for the truth and directly confronting those who try to pull the wool over our eyes in society.

“Daylight robbery, mad men on a muggery, lifetime of monotony, it’s a fixed lottery, burdened to bottom feed, banished to poverty, worship celebrity?… Nah I don’t think so” – quips Seán as he sifts through the stream of b*llshit we’re fed by our media channels everyday and happily regurgitate without a second’s thought.

In an era where Fake News, illicit electioneering tactics, and espionage, seem to have become part of the fabric of everyday life, Seán’s frustration with the daily propagation of lies (aka Porky Pies) from the upmost order down has perhaps never been more prescient.

Standing up for the truth and honour with a song that is as musically deceptive as the subject matter it spears, Seán delivers us another sharp shot of his lyrical prowess in this track loaded with multifarious hooks and cunning key changes aplenty.

Recorded at SS2 Studios in Southend with Xtra Mile label mate Sam Duckworth (AKA Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.) and Jay Malhotra, “Porky Pies’ will feature on Seán’s debut album ‘Son of The Smith’. Disarming in its scope, surprising in its erudite tackling of life’s challenges, and strong of voice with just a dab of laddish humour – the album is the aural personification of Seán himself.

‘Son of the Smith’ will be released on Xtra Mile Recordings on 11 May 2018.
