“Bluntly, if the scale of the incompetence is as we might imagine, then I simply would want to secure proper recompense on behalf of the taxpayer."
UK-based Fujitsu Services Ltd received revenues of £1.3 billion, including money from the Post Office itself, which continues to use a newer version of the Horizon system.
The Lib Dem leader has come under fire for not doing more to help wrongly-convicted subpostmasters during his time as postal affairs minister.
Sir Alan said he hoped the honour would be ‘another string to my bow to help me go forward and get some finality for people’.
Ms Vennells admitted she made mistakes during her tenure as chief executive of the Post Office.
The former chief executive has not yet spoken in detail about her role in the scandal.
Mark Davies admitted some emails he had written which blamed journalists ‘look ludicrous’ with the benefit of hindsight.
Kevin Hollinrake said the people responsible for the Horizon scandal “should go to jail” during an interview with the BBC.
