Man charged with murder of drill rapper Sidique Kamara

Kenneth Umezie, 31, due in court for Camberwell knifing

A 31-year-old man has been charged with the murder of drill rapper Sidique Kamara in Camberwell.

The 23-year-old was repeatedly stabbed in Warham Street just after 7pm last Wednesday.

Today Kenneth Umezie was charged with murder and is due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

A other teenage boys aged 16, 18 and 19, who were arrested as part of this inquiry have been released under investigation.

Scotland Yard said: “A man has been charged with the murder of Sidique Kamara in Camberwell.

“Kenneth Umezie, 31 of Camberwell was charged on Tuesday, 7 August with murder.

“He will appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 8 August.

“Three other males, aged 16, 18 and 19, who were arrested as part of this inquiry have been released under investigation.

“Officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command launched an investigation after police were called to Warham Street, at approximately 7.20pm on Wednesday, 1 August.

“Sidique, 23, was found at the location suffering stab injuries. He died at the scene.”
