The US government has embarked upon a dramatic escalation in its feud with Venezuela, after conducting wide-ranging airstrikes across its capital city. Bombs fell on Caracas overnight, and Donald Trump has since confirmed that President Maduro was ‘captured and flown out of the country’.

The operation has drawn widespread condemnation, even with POTUS’ own camp. These extraordinary developments unfolded at a rapid place, but critics are questioning if the Trump Administration violated American law by failing to secure permission for these strikes from Congress.
It is unclear where Nicolas Maduro is being flown to, and what will become of the seemingly deposed leader of Venezuela. Trump and his acolytes have been targeting the South American nation as part of their war on drug-trafficking, and have previously ordered strikes on boats from the region.

This, however, is a completely different ball game. Explosions rattled the metropolis of Caracas, forcing citizens to run for cover and escape the chaos. Videos taken by locals show the sheer scale of the bombings, with fireballs and plumes of smoke engulfing the night sky.
