The US government has embarked upon a dramatic escalation in its feud with Venezuela, after conducting wide-ranging airstrikes across its capital city. Bombs fell on Caracas overnight, and Donald Trump has since confirmed that President Maduro was ‘captured and flown out of the country’.

“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country. This operation was done in conjunction with US Law Enforcement.” | Donald Trump

Where is Nicolas Maduro?

The operation has drawn widespread condemnation, even with POTUS’ own camp. These extraordinary developments unfolded at a rapid place, but critics are questioning if the Trump Administration violated American law by failing to secure permission for these strikes from Congress.

It is unclear where Nicolas Maduro is being flown to, and what will become of the seemingly deposed leader of Venezuela. Trump and his acolytes have been targeting the South American nation as part of their war on drug-trafficking, and have previously ordered strikes on boats from the region.

This, however, is a completely different ball game. Explosions rattled the metropolis of Caracas, forcing citizens to run for cover and escape the chaos. Videos taken by locals show the sheer scale of the bombings, with fireballs and plumes of smoke engulfing the night sky.

BREAKING: Explosions are rocking Caracas, Venezuela while their citizens are sleeping, as it appears the so-called "Peace President" trump is starting a war without Congress' approval.

Donald Trump bombs two countries in two weeks after receiving FIFA Peace Prize

The operation comes within two weeks of Donald Trump ordering airstrikes in Nigeria, targeting ISIS operatives and responding to the perceived persecution of Christians in the region. However, some reports claim that the wrong targets were hit, directly resulting in civilian casualties.

However, this is tantamount to a declaration of war, and the capture of Nicolas Maduro takes the US into brazen, if not totally uncharted territory. All this, within a month of FIFA chief Gianni Infantino handing Mr. Trump a spurious ‘Peace Prize’ ahead of the 2026 World Cup. That went well…
