Pahli Hill collaborate with Vinegar Shed for one night only

'A special evening at a special restaurant'

Pahli Hill, on Mortimer Street in Fitzrovia, is Avi Shashidhara’s superb restaurant on Mortimer Street in Fitzrovia.  I have gone several times since it opened and it has become one of my favourite restaurants in London.  Just writing this has me dreaming of the veal chettinad with some flaky flat bread.  It is a genuinely epic dish. He also does the most wonderful chicken tikka – soft, juicy, perfectly spiced chicken thigh pieces with marinated cucumber slices to cut through the spice.  He was a deserved winner of one of the courses on Great British Menu.

Having to invent a reason to visit Pahli Hill is therefore clearly unnecessary – just go, but in case you do need an extra prompy, the restaurant has just announced the next dinner in the Pahli Hill Society Series, named after the communal living ‘building societies’ of Bombay in India.

On Tuesday 17th of October they will welcome Andy Harris, Chief Vinegar Officer of Vinegar Shed and a.k.a The Ealing Grocer to the Pahli Hill kitchen. The Vinegar Shed describes itself as devoted to the art of vinegar-making with the UK’s largest selection of unique, small-batch artisan vinegar. Using Andy’s vinegars, Chef Avi and Andy have created a flavour-packed and warming menu perfect for Autumn.

Dishes will include Monkfish Kebabs marinated with wild garlic vinegar and herbs, Avi’s Coorgi Pork with kadambuttu (coconut rice balls) and Andy’s Cari Ourite, a Mauritian style Octopus Curry. To finish, Baked Figs with dried fig vinegar, cardamon and mastic serve. The evening is at £65 per person and includes a drink on arrival.

Sounds awesome.
