A Scandinavian man claims that his Apple smart watch overheated and severely burnt his arm. The Dane, Jargen Mouritzen believes that the strap began to overheat and became so hot that he could smell his flesh burning.

He struggled to take the watch off, but when he did, he was left with pretty deep burns into his wrist.

Mr Mouritzen has said that the Apple have not replied to his complaint and a separate investigation into the cause is going ahead. However, this news could reduce sales of the watch, which is worrying for the company, especially in the run up the Christmas.

He said:

“I could smell the burning flesh. And the strap was so hot that as I scrambled to try and pull it off my arm, I even burnt my fingers.

“There was nothing else around that could have heated the strap up other than the watch, but Apple have still not given me any explanation.

“I was happy with the watch and generally happy with Apple products, and I’m sure it’s very rare that this should happen however I’m surprised it’s taken them so long to do anything or to help out a customer.”
