The Post Office campaigner said he had been offered ‘around a sixth’ of the requested amount after Horizon IT scandal.
"Granting a knighthood to Alan Bates will acknowledge the struggle he has had to bring this injustice to light", the petition author said.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s spokesman said the honour would be ‘common sense’.
