London’s top projects are set to go head to head at the region’s RICS Awards 2017. The shortlist has been released with 51 projects across eight categories competing for the coveted overall Project of the Year title for London.

The awards which are known as the ‘property Oscars’ highlight the great talent involved for shaping London’s built environment. This year sees some of the most innovative and collaborative projects from across the capital.

There are eight categories including; Community Benefit, Regeneration, Design through Innovation, Building Conservation, Residential, Commercial, Tourism & Leisure and Infrastructure.

The category winners will then go forth for the acclaimed Project of the Year title, awarded to the scheme that demonstrates outstanding best practice and an exemplary commitment to adding value to its local area. Last year saw NT Future win the Tourism and Leisure category at the Grand Final of the 2016 RICS national awards, after winning a regional London RICS Award (in the same category). The judges praised the transformation which sought to re-engage the NT with the river, creating new public space and dynamically linking the NT to the South Bank and the city as well as providing new opportunities and facilities.

Chair of the RICS Awards 2017, London judging panel, Hugh Kemsley OBE MA FRICS, Consultant at Matthews and Goodman said: “The standard of entries in the London region is always of such high calibre and this year is no exception. I look forward to celebrating the successes of the talent behind the future of the capital’s built environment at the awards ceremony in May.”
