When the going gets tough, Nigel Farage gets going… to the airport. The Reform leader, who was elected to represent Clacton exactly two years ago, has again shunned his constituents in favour of a cushy gig in Washington DC – some 4,000 miles away from home.

Where is Nigel Farage this weekend? Not in Clacton…
Shortly after being elected as an MP in 2024, Mr. Farage backtracked on claims he would uphold the responsibility of conducting in-person surgeries for those who voted him into office. His claims that he was following orders from the Speaker’s Office have since been robustly challenged.
Though the 61-year-old has made fleeting visits to the area, his connection with the people of Clacton hasn’t been a hands-on one. He is still projected to retain his seat in 2029 – possibly while serving as the UK Prime Minister – but events in recent months have cranked up the pressure.
The £5 million bung Nigel Farage can’t outrun
Amid numerous scandals that have come his way since taking office, none have left the arch-Brexiteer more rattled than the Christopher Harborne narrative. The Thai-based crypto billionaire was revealed to have given Nigel a £5 million payment, just weeks before he filed to become an MP.
This money was not declared, and it is now the subject of a Parliamentary investigation. The great irony here is that, should Nigel Farage be found guilty, one of the potential consequences is a by-election being held in Clacton. Perhaps then, the locals would see a little more of him.
On Friday evening, it was revealed that the right-wing firebrand had downed tools in the UK, to instead fulfil an engagement on Capitol Hill. Farage was speaking at an event celebrating the friendship between the US and the UK – appropriately titled ‘Redcoats and Rebels’.
No difficult questions about crypto funding there, then…
Clacton MP swans off yet again
The jet-setting MP is a frequent flyer across the pond. Earlier this year, he went one step further, flying off 6,000 miles to the Chagos Islands for a political stunt. But if he’s not in Clacton, at least he’s showing up to do his job in Westminster, right? Well…
Nigel Farage recently broke a three-month absentee streak from voting in the House of Commons, after failing to cast a single ballot on procedural matters from 18 March to 24 June. Figures from MPdata show that this puts him in the bottom 7% of participating elected representatives.
But still, good news about the speaking gigs. And he also found time to hobnob with the Vice President, JD Vance.
