Watch: Tory MP warns against ‘vaccinationism’ in bizarre speech

Any idea what "vaccinationism" means? Us neither.

Sir Desmond Swayne, the extravagant Conservative MP, has made a unique intervention in the Covid-19 debate.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Sir Desmond was addressing the potential rollout of a coronavirus vaccine – warning against any impingement on the liberty of those who had not had the jab.

Responding to Steve Baker, the self-styled ‘Brexit hardman’, who had warned against “implicit coercion” against those not taking the jab from hospitality businesses and elsewhere, Swayne declared such a concept “vaccinationism”. Nope, us neither.

Watch his speech here.

Steve Baker – The government should not turn a blind eye to businesses, like restaurants & airlines, to discriminate against people who have not had the vaccine

Desmond Swayne – That would be "vaccinationism"…. pic.twitter.com/SuOVnx7L0K

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.

Our mission is to hold the powerful to account. It is vital that free media is allowed to exist to expose hypocrisy, corruption, wrongdoing and abuse of power. But we can't do it without you.
