A second insane policy announcement in two weeks for Reform.

Reform UK have decided to take another insane leaf out of the Donald Trump playbook by announcing plans to deport all foreign criminals to El Salvador prisons.

The week after Nigel Farage and co. announced they would use the Navy and Royal Marines to push back small boats in the Channel, Reform have managed to come up with another bats**t policy.

This time, they reckon they’ve got the solution to the overcrowding problem in British prisons.

In a plan which not so subtly echoes the mass deportations by the Trump administration last year, Reform have said they will send all foreign criminals to El Salvador’s infamously hellish prisons.

As reported by the Sun, Reform have had conversations with the El Salvador government about renting prison spots.

Later this year, party chairman Lee Anderson will reportedly head up a team of officials for a visit to the Central American country.

There are an estimated 10,000 foreign nationals in British prisons.

El Salvador’s prison conditions are notoriously brutal. There are reports of prisoners being beaten by officers, sleeping on metal bunks with no mattresses and having to eat meals with their bare hands.

Reacting to Reform’s announcement on X, the Mirror’s US political editor Mikey Smith described El Salvador’s prisons as “torture camps.”

It's important to understand that the places he's talking about here are not prisons. They're torture camps. https://t.co/pEe4Zxp52C

Others have asked whether this is simply another ‘vibes-based’ policy from Reform that actually will prove to be unworkable in reality.

Whilst his approval ratings are on the floor, he's now "begun talks with El Salvador"

How do you actually operationalise dumping 10k foreign national prisoners into El Salvador style jails?

Have you got a single signed agreement or is this still just vibes, a Lee Anderson jolly and some initial chats?
