VIDEO – Hillsborough survivor makes a calm call for justice against police

By Joe Mellor, Deputy Editor

A Hillsborough survivor who climbed out of the pens 27 years ago in a desperate attempt to survive made a dignified call for South Yorks Police to be held to account during BBC’s Question Time.

He politely and clearly asked for action against South Yorkshire Police after an inquest found 96 Liverpool fans were unlawfully killed.

He said: “I was at Hillsborough in 1989, survived the crush and climbed over the fences onto the pitch,” he said. “So I feel to be a victim of South Yorkshire Police.

“I don’t think South Yorkshire Police have yet been held accountable.
