Video – Farage caught out by clever question

By Joe Mellor, Deputy Editor

Nigel Farage was caught out by a clever question as he appeared on an LBC radio show. The caller said he thought that speaking English was necessary for new people entering the UK to live.

“I don’t see how you can integrate when you don’t speak the language of the country,” said the caller, to Nigel Farage.

“I couldn’t agree with you more. I think you’re right and I think the language is absolutely fundamental,”  Farage responded to the caller, Richard.

But then he turned the question around and went after Farage with his point, asking: “Just on that specific point, I was wondering why you spent more than 20 years living in Belgium and yet you don’t speak a word of Flemmish, German or French?”

“I speak a bit of French,” Farage responded. “I’ll have you know Richard. I’m very good with a French wine list alright. I know my way round a menu.”
