The Conservative operation is increasingly paralysed by panic, according to political commentator Owen Jones.

According to three journalist sources from right-wing papers the Tory camp is fear stricken in the run-up to the election as Jeremy Corbyn closes the gap.

Thousands of people turned up to see the Labour leader speak last night on the banks of the River Tyne while Theresa May struggled to fill a medium-sized room on her campaign trail.

And the polls are increasingly pointing to a narrowing gap between the two parties after first calling a Tory landslide when the snap election was first called.

At the time the campaign began, the Conservatives led the national polls by more than 16 points; Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was so unpopular that a plurality of voters in his own party viewed him negatively.

Now, with just three days before the election on June 8, The Conservative lead has been cut nearly in half, down to 8.3 percent in the BritainElects poll aggregator’s tally.

Three journalists for right-wing papers have now told me that the Tory operation is increasingly paralysed by panic (rightly or wrongly).

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.

Our mission is to hold the powerful to account. It is vital that free media is allowed to exist to expose hypocrisy, corruption, wrongdoing and abuse of power. But we can't do it without you.
