These are the MPs who voted against protecting the country from what the ABI called “an unforgiveable act of self-harm.”

Last night Theresa May’s government were cowed yet again when, in an unexpected upset, a slim majority of MPs, including Tories defying their own whip, voted 311 to 309 for an amendment Conservative Caroline Spelman added to Theresa May’s motion to rule out a No deal Brexit on March 29th only, while acknowledging a No deal Brexit as a default.

Caroline Spelman tried to withdraw her own amendment under pressure from the government, but it was too late, and in what appears to be a victory for common sense, MPs from across the benches inflicted another humiliating defeat for May.

“I just watched the Prime Minister going in to vote for No Deal. I told her it was a disgrace. I hope she is gone by morning,” said Labour MP Jess Phillips.

Summing up the feelings of many colleagues she added:  “This afternoon Michael Gove told us what calamity No deal would be then he and the PM voted for it.”

Politically, nobody is winning Brexit. There are only losers.

Brexiteers were humiliated by the majority of their colleagues voting against Britain cutting itself off from the free flow of goods and services, all the trade deals EU membership holds with no replacement ready to ensure jobs, medicine, fresh food and the country’s security.

But the bitter defeat may now makes them likelier to vote for Theresa May’s deal they have continuously picked fault with if she persists on making MPs vote on it again and again.

MPs voted to amend the government’s main motion from “declines to approve leaving the European Union without a Withdrawal Agreement and a Framework for the Future Relationship on 29 March 2019; and notes that leaving without a deal remains the default in UK and EU law unless this House and the EU ratify an agreement.” to “rejects the United Kingdom leaving the European Union without a Withdrawal Agreement and a Framework for the Future Relationship.”

Below is the full list of MPs who voted against last night’s non-binding amendment that rules out the prospect of the UK leaving the EU without a deal:
