Jeremy Corbyn says the Conservatives “don’t want you to vote” in the upcoming elections after the party refrained from posting anything about the looming deadline for registrations.

You are required to register by 17 April to vote in the local and mayoral elections in England on 3 May, but the Tories have yet to send out any reminders about the cut-off.

That’s in stark contrast to the elections in 2016, when they sent out a prominent warning on their Facebook page.

Labour is expected to take several key seats from the Tories in London, targeting Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea for the first time, as well as Wandsworth council and Barnet, which is currently under no overall control.

Mr Corbyn attacked Kensington & Chelsea’s performance, which was branded “unacceptable” by the Government in the wake of the Grenfell fire.

He also vowed to bring privatised services in Barnet back in-house, claiming Tory reforms have made workers “worse off”.

This year, the Tories haven’t posted anything about registering to vote.

They don’t want you to vote because they know they’ve failed you.

This is your chance to send them a message on Thursday 3 May.

Since you are here

Since you are here, we wanted to ask for your help.

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.

Our mission is to hold the powerful to account. It is vital that free media is allowed to exist to expose hypocrisy, corruption, wrongdoing and abuse of power. But we can't do it without you.
