The Metropolitan Police has released footage of Russell Brand’s police interviews with officers.
On Thursday, the comedian and actor was found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault following a four-week trial at Southwark Crown Court.
Brand had faced seven charges, and was found not guilty of two counts of rape and one of attempted indecent assault.
He has been remanded in custody, with the judge telling him “obviously a custodial sentence of some length will result.”
Following his conviction, the Metropolitan police released footage of officers interviewing him between 2023 and 2025.
In footage from 2023, in which Brand is wearing a black jumper with a star on it, he reads out a statement saying he had “countless sexual encounters” and “led a very promiscuous life in the past.”
He described the Channel 4 and Times investigation into him as “defamatory and fictitious” and labelled encounters at the centre of some of the allegations as “invented or reimagined.”
In footage from 2025, in which Brand is wearing an olive green jacket, he says he has “nothing to add” after an incident he is accused of is read out to him.
Speaking after the verdict was delivered on Thursday, judge Mr Justice Bennathan told Brand that he should expect a “significant custodial sentence,” the BBC reports.
“You’ve been convicted of a number of offences including rape,” the judge said. “The consequence of that is inevitably a significant custodial term.”
Brand has been remanded in custody, with sentencing scheduled to take place on Monday, 9 November.
Following his conviction, it could be reported that Brand is being investigated over further rape allegations made by two women.
He has already been questioned by officers in relation to the accusations.
The Metropolitan Police said its investigation “remains ongoing.”
