Police probe fatal shooting of London passenger of crashed car in broad daylight

Murder Squad cops are probing the fatal shooting of the passenger of a Mercedes that crashed in to a row of parked cars in broad daylight.

Police say the man in his twenties was pronounced dead at the scene in Hillingdon, north west London, and the driver was arrested.

The area remains cordoned off following the incident yesterday (THURS) afternoon.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “A murder investigation has been launched in Hillingdon after a man was found in a car with fatal injuries.

“Officers were called at 2:43pm on Thursday to Uxbridge Road at the junction with West Drayton Road.

“A Mercedes was reported to have collided with a number of parked vehicles.

“A male passenger, in his 20s, was found in the Mercedes suffering from a suspected gunshot injury.

“London’s Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service attended, but despite their best efforts he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

No one else was found injured and the arrested man is being questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving.

The victim has yet to be formally identified but his next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem will be held in due course and an inquest opened and adjourned shortly

Detectives from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command are questioning the driver in a west London police station.

The Yard spokesman added: “There are a number of crime scenes in place.

“Enquiries into the full circumstances of the incident are ongoing.”
