Man fatally stabbed in north London

He suffered sat injury just after 5.45pm in Mathias Road

A man in his 30s was fatally stabbed in north London yesterday afternoon.

The man was found with a stab injury just after 5.45pm in Stoke Newington.

Despite efforts by paramedics he died where he collapsed in Mathias Road.

He was the 38th person to be murdered in the capital so far this year.

Scotland Yard said: “Police were called at 5.47pm on Wednesday, 17 April to Mathias Road, Stoke Newington, following reports of a stabbing.

“Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

“A man, thought to be aged in his 30s, was discovered suffering from a stab injury.

“Police administered CPR prior to the arrival of ambulance personnel; despite their efforts the man died at the scene.

“Police are working to inform his next of kin.

“At this early stage there have been no arrests.

“The Homicide and Major Crime Command will be informed.

“A crime scene is in place. Enquiries continue.”
