A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being shot in the head with a slingshot.

The unnamed man was blasted in the head by a pellet fired from the projectile weapon at close range – that smashed through a car window as he was parked.

A projectile smashed through a parked car window and struck him after being fired at close-range near Dover, Kent.

A spokesman said Kent Police was investigating a head injury suspected to be from a catapult which left the victim in a “serious condition”.

The spokesman said: “Detectives are carrying out enquiries after the man, in his mid-20s, suffered the wound during a reported assault near Dover.

“It is reported that the window of the car was smashed and the victim was hit in the head with a small object, thought to have been caused by a catapult just a short distance away.”

The victim and another man sat with him in the parked car were attacked at 3pm on October 28 in Elvington, Kent.

The spokesman said: “He attended a local hospital before being transferred to London where he continues to receive treatment. The other man in the car sustained minor injuries.”

Detectives arrested a 21-year-old man held over grievous bodily harm, criminal damage and possession of a weapon last Friday.

They appealed for witnesses today (Fri) after releasing him pending further inquiries.

Investigating officer PC Matthew Johnston said: “This happened close to a ball park and we believe there would have been a number of people there at the time of the alleged assault that might have seen something.

“Anyone who witnessed this or has information that could assist our investigation is urged to get in touch as soon as possible.”
