NB: UPDATE: The London Underground Strike has been suspended, but South Western trains set to have a walk out. MORE FOLLOWS.

READ UPDATE.

If there is no breakthrough in talks between London Underground and Aslef the union representing most tube drivers, Londoners are looking at a walkout by underground staff from the early hours of Thursday morning. Any breakthrough is beginning to look less likely this afternoon.

The dispute centres on broken agreements underground staff say they had with tube bosses over the shifts they work since the Night Tube made sections of the London underground run 24 hours. London Underground deny Aslef’s claims.

So this is what we are looking at:

  • 24 hour strike starts officially at 12.01am on Thursday October 5.
  • Tube journeys massively affected from the morning of Thursday October 5.
  • Some services will finish earlier on Wednesday night – at 11.30pm.
  • Others may start later on Friday October 6.
  • TfL Rail, London Overground, DLR, Rivers and Emirates Air Line will all running normally, but expect crowds and queues.
  • More buses and Santander Cycle hubs on key routes – but again expect queues and crowds.
  • So if you can walk – do it!
  • Travelling around Wembley Stadium, including the North Circular will be a nightmare from late afternoon due to the England vs. Slovenia match.
  • The M25 and/or the South circular will therefor be a better bet than the North Circular
  • Strike action may also affect Southern and Abellio Greater Anglia services. Check before you travel on the Southern Railway and Greater Anglia websites.

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.
