Boris Johnson has announced that he will now back the PM Brexit deal after Theresa May promised to quit once the UK leaves the EU with her deal, which has already been rejected twice by the Commons.

However, he might want to cast his mind back to this Mail on Sunday front page…

For Boris to say that the PM’s view is like that of a suicide bomber is too much. This marks one of the most disgusting moments in modern British politics. I’m sorry, but this is the political end of Boris Johnson. If it isn’t now, I will make sure it is later. #neverfittogovern https://t.co/rdI0FWQhbi

— Sir Alan Duncan MP (@AlanDuncanMP) September 8, 2018

Johnson used his Telegraph newspaper column to blast the prime minister’s “chicken” government and to tell the EU to “let my people go”.

Johnson wrote: “We are not leaving this Friday because the government has chickened out. For almost three years every Tory MP has chirruped the mantra that no deal would be better than a bad deal.”

“I believed that the government was sincere in making that claim, and I believed that the PM genuinely had the 29th of March inscribed in her heart.

“I am afraid I misread the government. We have blinked. We have baulked. We have bottled it completely.”

Since you are here

Since you are here, we wanted to ask for your help.

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.

Our mission is to hold the powerful to account. It is vital that free media is allowed to exist to expose hypocrisy, corruption, wrongdoing and abuse of power. But we can't do it without you.
