Farage ally Arron Banks complains about ‘no white faces’ at Heathrow

"Not sure you could find a more blatant example of outright racism than this."

Arron Banks has let the mask slip after he complained about there being not “one white face in security or airport services” at Heathrow.

Record Brexit-backer, key Nigel Farage ally and failed Reform mayoral candidate Banks has plenty to answer for for his role and influence in British politics over the last ten years.

Most recently, he has found himself at the centre of controversy over revelations that he had paid for private investigators to dig into the Conservative party chair and Times journalist Gabriel Pogrund.

And just in case you needed any more convincing about Banks’s character, he is now happily spouting bile about a supposed lack of ‘white faces’ working in airports.

In a post shared this week, Banks wrote: “Going through Heathrow today, there wasn’t one white face in security or airport services. The Home office is staffed by the type of people we are trying to keep out! What hope?”

The post sparked widespread condemnation on social media, with several accusing him of “blatant racism.”

Mail on Sunday columnist Dan Hodges wrote: “There we go. One of Nigel Farage’s key allies. Eventually the mask slips. Not sure you could find a more blatant example of outright racism than this.”

Political editor at HuffPost UK Kevin Schofield simply said: “When people show you what they are, believe them.”

Political commentator Don McGowan said the comment was “pretty racist, even for Arron,” whilst others suggested Heathrow staff might want to misplace Banks’s luggage.

This isn’t the only time a Reform figure has been accused of racism this month. Just last week, Reform’s home affairs spokesperson Zia Yusuf was condemned for comments he made about Labour’s candidate in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election.
