Far-right activist Daniel ‘Tommo’ Thomas was involved in an embarrassing debacle earlier this year after buying a boat to interfere with Border Force operations in the Channel.
Thomas, who goes by Danny Tommo, has made headlines in recent weeks through his group Patriot Platform, whose balaclava-clad members have caused chaos in Dover and Portsmouth with thuggish behaviour and anti-migrant protests.
But before you get too worried about any sort of uprising Thomas might lead with his gang of un-merry men, here’s a story to highlight the level of IQ we’re dealing with.
The sinking of the good ship ‘Patriot’
Back in April, Thomas announced in a post on X that he had purchased a small rigid-hulled inflatable boat, which he called the Patriot.

He had raised funds for the vessel through donations from his followers and said he was planning to police the Channel in it and interfere with Border Force operations.
But the Times reports that within weeks of buying the boat, Thomas had managed to sink it.
By June, Thomas was asking for more money from his followers to help salvage the boat, which he claimed had sunk due to sabotage.
According to the Times though, the boat had got into difficulty after developing mechanical issues at the mouth of the Arun river, in Littlehampton, West Sussex.
When Thomas went to get a trailer to rescue the vessel, it started to sink in the harbour and ended up being retrieved by authorities.
Thomas begs for more cash
After collecting the boat, which the Times says has not been used since the farcical sinking, Thomas has started a new fundraising campaign begging his followers for cash.
Thomas pledged to use the money for “new boats and marine equipment for essential water-based operations” as well as fuel, accommodation and storage for the group’s “assets”.
Thomas does not state in the fundraiser, which has raised more than £21,000, that the previous boat sank.
Reacting to the story on social media, some said it was the perfect example of Thomas’s grift and idiocy, with political commentator Supertanskiii labelling him a “far right Frank Spencer.”
